Welcome to a secluded island paradise where spectacular natural beauty surrounds you. Escape to a world where white sand beaches stretch as far the eye can see and the shore is lined with exotic seashells. Sanibel Island, located 14 miles west of Ft. Myers and 40 miles north of Naples, is a world of tropical wildlife and magnificent sunsets over sparkling waters and hundreds of islands to explore.
Beaches and Water
If there were a golden Oscar awarded to “The Best Beach,” it would be given to Sanibel Island. It is indeed outstanding!
Sanibel Island offers a unique mix of natural and historical attractions and a rich array of sports and recreational options.
The beaches are great for swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, shelling, fishing and boating. Catch your thrill at wing surfing, parasailing and kayaking.
There are five wonderful parks located right on the island, each one with its own appeal. Since more than half of the island is preserved in its natural state, you can walk, ride, bike or even canoe and kayak within the J.N. (Ding) Darling National Wildlife Refuge.
Land activities at Sanibel Island include museums, historical villages, festivals, tours and theatre. If shopping is your pleasure, you must not miss Periwinkle Place, Sanibel's largest shopping center, which offers 36 unique and interesting shops.
There is a wide variety of accommodations, ranging from very expensive, moderate and inexpensive.
Dining is superb in Sanibel. There are so many great restaurants, too numerous to name, but you will have fun choosing.
Come to Sanibel Island for the vacation you will always remember!
