Mount Dora is located in a county with 1,400 lakes, and sits on a plateau 266 feet above sea level. It was established in 1880 and incorporated as a city in 1953. Early promoters of Mount Dora coined the name “Land of Lakes and Hills,” and a picture depicting a bass was adopted for the town.
Mount Dora is conveniently located 25 miles northwest of Orlando. It retains the flavor of a small town with hilly terrain, several lakes, large canopy oak trees and historic buildings.
