This wonderful fishing town, located
37 miles south off Perry along the north central coastline and off the Gulf
of Mexico is the place to come to experience a small
town village atmosphere.
There are no beaches, but people come here during the summer
months to go scalloping in Deadman’s Bay,
and all year round to catch different species of trout, mackerel, redfish and
flounder. Located along the Steinhatchee River is the beautiful sight
of the old bridge, which now serves as the fishing pier. The sounds of
seagulls laughing and waters splashing there are every fisherman’s dream.
In all of Northwest Florida, the nicest place to stay is the
Steinhatchee Landing, which has about 20 cracker-style cottages for historic
accommodations.
Whether you caught you own dinner or not, you must partake
at Roy’s Seafood Restaurant, which offers a wide selection, including blue crab,
shrimp, scallops, oysters, and mullet in entrée-sized portions. The dinning
room looks out on the river so everyone can watch the breathtaking view.
Visit Steinhatchee for a wonderful get-away, and you may just
have to come back!
