Hi,
First off I would like the email address of the Local Repasentative by the name of Lorraine Ausly. Thank you.
Now, coming from New Zealand, I have never heard of adopted children not having access to their biological parents....anywhere else in the world. I have recently met a lady who was born in Florida....back in 1956....and who is unable to access her parents details. She did know her mother as it was the sister who adopted her. Both her mothers have now died and it is safe to assume that the father most probably has too.
I would like to know why the State of Florida is unable to allow this lady access to the archives that would show her father. Even if he were alive she has had to go without the knowledge of who her father was for the past 49 years ....and has carried the surname of her adopted father since birth. Here in Australia, and New Zealand (and I believe everywhere else) the parents are not permitted access to their children once they are adopted out. However....when a child reaches the age of 18 or 21 they may apply to access their biological parents file. They are then able to make contact with them, and if the parents are agreeable, meet them. Usually the parents are pleased to meet them.
What is the process that the people of Florida have to go through to change an archaic law? _________________ A strange old man stops me,
