A QUAINT TOWN... COME BROWSE IN THE MANY SHOPS AND WALK THE SIDEWALKS... ATMOSPHERE IS FRIENDLY AND SLOW MOVING
THE OLD FORT IS FUN TO TOUR... IT HAS AN UPPER DECK TOO, THAT ALLOWS YOU TO VIEW THE LAND FAR OFF... THERE IS A SMALL FEE THAT HELPS MAINTAIN THE STRUCTURE... WELL WORTH THE TIME TO SEE
THERE ARE BOAT TRIPS THAT OFFER SHORT JAUNTS... BE SURE TO CHECK THE SCHEDULES SO YOU WON'T MISS EM... LOTS TO SEE! |

| Just South down the road aways before Marineland is Fort Matanza it's also a National Park. It's free and they have a boat ride to the smaller fort and guided tour by rangers of the fort has three levels. There are cannon on top a teret like in St Augustine on corners of the fort and inside as if it were back in the day. At the rangers office they have a short film about Fort Matanza and the Fort at St Augustine this fort guarded. At different time of the year they do reinactments here. It has a very shaded picked area by a canopy of trees the kids will love to climb in. Bathroom and drink machines available. There is a boardwalk thru the forest out to a beach on the intercoastal way and on the other side of the road is the beac front where you can swim. There is a little gift store also. It's a great day trip and one our company loves to do when they come down. |
